Cat exercise is extremely important to the health and well being of your cats. As longas your cat is in good health and doesn't have any physical limitations, exercise will help your cat develop muscle and coordination. In addition to all its health benefits, exercise is just plain fun for you and your cat!
Interactive play with your cat is ideal, but you can also provide simple cat toys that can entertain your cat you're not around. Some examples of both include:
- A plastic bottle cap to bat around.
- A wand with feathers on the end.
- A long, trailing toy that the cat can drag around the house.
- Consider building or buying a large cat tree that your cat can run around. This encourages coordination, but it's also a place where cats can perch and sleep when they aren't playing.
Try to play with your cat every day to make sure it gets enough regular exercise. Many cats, especially older ones, become more sedentary as they age. Cat exercise helps your cat maintain body tone and muscle, and keeps them feeling younger longer!
