When Americans consider the origins of most dog breeds, they may feel as though many of those breeds come from someplace else. But while some of the most popular breeds in the United States originated mainly in Europe, there are 12 other breeds got their start within U.S. borders. Here a list of All-American dogs — an even dozen breeds of all sizes, shapes, coats and temperaments — but all uniquely American.
